Day 7 of the marriage equality challenge – email your MP

It’s day 7 of the marriage equality challenge and today’s challenge is to email your MP.

The third vote on the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill is being held this week.  Now, more than ever, it’s important that you tell your MP why you want him/her to vote in favour of marriage equality.

So:
Find your electorate here
Find your MP by entering your address, clicking “search” and then clicking “2011 election results” (the winning candidate is your MP)
Once you know your MP’s name, their email address is firstname.lastname@parliament.govt.nz (where “firstname” and “lastname” are your MP’s first and last names), or click here for our full MP contact list
Let your MP know that you want him/her to vote in favour of marriage equality and why (because you think all New Zealanders should be treated equally by the law, because you’re gay and you want the right to marry your partner one day etc)
Your email doesn’t need to be long, but every email helps.  While you’re in an emailing mood, email this to your friends and family and ask them to email their MPs too.

Easy!  See you tomorrow for your next challenge!
